The bit that says “No thanks I design websites that are unpersuasive.” I’ve seen this type of thing around a fair bit, and I always think … well what I think is unprintable, but in the words of Douglas Adams: “Nobody likes a smartar$e.”

For those of you who’ve done the weekend workshop you’ll know this as “Making the other person wrong.” In this case massively so.

In other words, don’t be smug and try and be superior to everyone else, it just leaves people with a bad taste in their mouth.

[ How many do you already know? ]

I actually have the same concerns as Ryan. I think giving something concrete will better improve signups. The part of Ryan’s comment about making the designer work over time somewhat gives a positive effect in a way that it tells you to get this done and results can almost instantly be seen.

I don’t know how much I can do with 5 principles–if Peep hasn’t tested it yet, I’d try something more concrete like… 5 small design tweaks to improve signup rates: make your designer finish these TODAY even if she has to stay late! (there you’ve got concrete benefit, low commitment, quick payoff, and curiosity spurred by the ostentatious CTA)
